In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song at the time within 6 months. It was a mixture of reggaeton, pop and rock did not just bring attention to reggaeton but it also brought attention towards Latin music more generally. In 2015 there were only two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The popularity of Despacito was at its highest in 2017. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs are expected to make it into the Top 100. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) and Madonna was a part of Medellin together with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, some reggaeton musicians were unhappy with the way the genre was shifting towards more mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a member of a brand new generation of musicians who are determined to shift the trajectory of. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, as well as different styles was an accepted practice.
